Lindzi.com:
Last time we spoke you were unable to tell me what PYT stands for. You were
running a "guess the name" contest or something. Are you able to tell me
now?
Lauren: Prove Yourself
True.
Lindzi.com: Yeah, I had heard
that. I had also heard it meant Pretty Young Teenagers. Anyway, how has your
sound grown from when you first signed with the label?
Lauren: Before our album started
as basically pop. These two girls called Anthem came down and they met us.
They made Down With Me for us. We liked the way the song sounded
and so we recorded the rest of the album in that direction... with a little
more R&B edge. When we come out, we want to go out with a bang. We want
it to be perfect. It's worth the wait.
Lindzi.com: It seems like *N
Sync's No Strings Attached really influenced the change in POP music.
Did it's release affect your group?
Tracy: There was a big music change over 1999-2000. I don't think it was
just one artist. It was Destiny's Child, 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys. It's everybody
combined into one.
Lindzi.com: Great! So, what
songs off the album are personal favorites?
Lauren: I have a couple favorites... I like Deep Down, Same 'Ole Same
'Ole, Yea Yea Yeah, Call Me Anytime.
Lydia: I like Deep Down, Down With Me, and Simple Things.
Ashley: Deep Down, Same 'Ole Same 'Ole.
Tracy: I like Comedy Time, Down With Me, Same 'Ole Same 'Ole, and
Weak.
Lindzi.com: You all note Same 'Ole Same 'Ole as being a favorite.
What do you like about the song?
Tracy: It has a great beat. That's
one thing.
Lindzi.com: What's something
you've learned in the last year?
Lauren: Patience. We've had to have a lot of patience to go through this
whole process. Of course, we get really anxious. Gosh, we want to come out!
Ya know?
Lydia: To rely on the three other girls. We've been out of town and haven't
been able to see our family as much. We rely on each other for
support.
Lindzi.com: What has been your
most memorable moment?
Ashley: Shooting our first video.
We walked into this huge warehouse and all these things were set up. We looked
at each other and were like, "Wow."
Lydia: My most memorable moment was the first time we had a show together.
It was raining outside and we were on a small stage. We were really nervous
because we didn't think it was going to go well, but it went really great.
Lauren: I remember the stage manager came over to us. We all had to put plastic
bags over our heads so we wouldn't get wet when we were running from our
tour bus. It was high impact.
Tracy: My most memorable moment was when we heard the first song we recorded
in surround sound. It was amazing because... we didn't know we... I mean,
we knew we sounded great together, but we blended perfectly. It was such
an amazing feeling. Something More Beautiful was the first song we
recorded.
Lydia: Another memorable moment was the Superbowl.
PYT: {{much chatter}} Oh, yeah!
Lauren: Normally, we perform for huge crowds, but that's the biggest crowd
that we've performed for.
Ashley: Plus, like five hundred kids learned these dances to our music. It
was great.
Lauren: We had met Britney Spears and 'N Sync before since we did the tour
with them. We walked by Aerosmith and were like, "How are you
doing?"
Lydia: All the artists we've met
so far haven't changed. They've all been nice and down to earth. A lot of
people forget where they come from. They think that everything's coming easy,
but most people we've met have worked hard to get where they
are.
Lindzi.com: What's the craziest thing you've done
together?
Tracy: We're just crazy people
in general. We do weird things...
Ashley: Oh, the other day at the drive in... We were at Chick-fil-A in Orlando
because we were doing Slime Time Live for Nickelodeon. We stopped because
we were so hungry. After we ate, our parents were taking forever inside.
So, we went through the drive-thru and started taking to the guy.
Tracy: We were pretending I was the driver. She was the passenger and they
were the babies in the back. We drove up and started ordering food. The guy
was like, "You can't order! I can see you on the camera."
Lydia: He was like, "Dawg. You can't walk through the drive-thru."
Tracy: I was like, "Yo. Dawg. I want to order!" So, we ran away until our
parents got us.
Lindzi.com: What's something fans would be surprised to learn about
you?
Tracy: It's the stupidest thing
that nobody would ever care about, but I will let them know anyway. I have
a freckle on my left eye lid. Do you see it? It's under my eye make-up.
Ashley: I have one on my lip.
Lydia: Most of our fans know a lot about us, but one thing that they may
not know... it's not important, but... I was just looking at Tracy's shirt
and it reminded me. Me, Tracy, and Lauren once had to dress up like sugar
cubes...
Tracy: And carrots too! With little carrot stems.
Lydia: ...and do a little dance! It was when we were young for a fair. Me
and Ashley used to be the same height. She used to be even a little bit shorter
then me. Apparently, I stopped
growing.
Lindzi.com: What's the funniest
thing you've been asked by a reporter?
Lydia: What's the first thing you think of when I say the word McDonalds?
Lauren: Or what's your favorite toothpaste? I don't know what my toothpaste
is. You just say the first thing that comes to mind. A lot of reporters will
ask you the same thing so it's more exciting when someone catches you off
guard and asks you something different.
PYT: These are hard
questions!
Lindzi.com: You guys grew up
with each other! Is college in your future? Do you plan on going away
together?
PYT: It's a priority.
Lauren: In unison, even. {laughs} One thing we have in common is our music,
but besides that we have our separate interests.
Tracy: We go to four different high schools. So, we live four different lives
aside from PYT.
Lindzi.com: Well, they certainly
won't be for the next year! Be sure to take a listen to their new single,
Same 'Ole Same 'Ole, and pick up their debut
album! |
